Softball: Maldonado smacks two home runs in 29-1 LBCC win at Compton

Sophomore Sarah Maldonado (Port of Los Angeles HS) had a huge game, going 3 for 4 with two home runs and 7 RBI in a 29-1 Long Beach City College win at El Camino College Compton Center on Thursday. The South Coast Conference victory improved the Vikings to 11-11 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

Long Beach totaled 25 hits in the contest with none bigger than Maldonadao's grand slam in the third inning and three-run shot as part of the 13-run, first-inning for the Vikings. She also scored four runs.

Sophomores Erika Balboa (Gahr HS) and Mariah Jacobo (La Serna HS) both drove in four runs for the Vikings while freshman Yulissa Dominguez (Santa Fe HS) was a perfect 4 for 4 with 3 RBI.

Freshman Mitzy Moreno earned the win in the circle for Long Beach to improve to 4-0 this season. 

LBCC plays next at Rio Hondo College on Friday (Mar. 18) at 3 p.m. in a non-conference game.
