LBCC Softball Blanked by No. 2 Mt. SAC

The Long Beach City College softball team faced off against the No. 2 Mt. San Antonio College Mounties on Tuesday afternoon at home. Despite a solid pitching performance from sophomore hurler Annisa Hamilton (Downey, CA) in her second-consecutive start, the Vikings fell by the final score of 3-0.

Hamilton was the story of the contest for Long Beach after chucking six innings of very effective softball. Despite Mt. SAC scoring three runs, she allowed only a pair of earned runs and recorded four strikeouts. She retired the side in order on two occasions and wiggled out of a crucial second and third jam in the top of the fourth inning.

Long Beach only recorded three hits with freshman first baseman Julia Juarez (Long Beach, CA) barreling two of them. Freshman right fielder Alijah Vega (Bellflower, CA) was responsible for the other hit.

The Vikings will continue action on Thursday, March 9th as they kick of South Coast Conference (SCC) – South action by hosting the Cerritos College Falcons. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
