Softball Remains Undefeated with 4-3 Win over LA Mission

The Long Beach City College softball team continued their six-game winning-streak with a 4-3 win over LA Mission College on Friday afternoon. Freshman pitcher Joette Vega (4-0) earned the win on the mound with only allowing six hits on three runs to the Eagles, while striking out five.

The Eagles were first to score in the top of the second inning. Sophomore designated player Noelany Benitez hit a single to get on base and then freshman left fielder Maria Aguilar was next up with a double. Benetiz scored the first run for the Vikings by stealing home and then freshman center fielder Yazmin Zendejas hit an RBI single to bring in Aguilar to take the 2-1 lead for the Vikings.

The Vikings extended their lead 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth with RBI from Aguilar to score in Vega.

Then the Eagles came back in the fifth inning with a two RBI home run to tie the game 3-3.

The Vikings weren't done yet as freshman second baseman Alora Murray scored the final run to take the 4-3 win for Long Beach.

The Long Beach City College softball team will return on Tuesday, Feb. 5 in their first conference game of the season against Pasadena City College at 3 p.m.
