Softball’s Winning-Streak Snapped by Mt. SAC

The No. 7/14 Long Beach City College softball team suffered their first loss of the season to the No. 3/4 Mount San Antonino College Mounties on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings fell 10-1 in their fourth South Coast Conference game.

Freshman pitcher Joette Vega (5-1) took home her first loss on the mound with five hits on four runs in three innings.

The Mounties struck first in the top of the second inning with one run and then came back in the top of third with three runs. Long Beach then came back in the bottom of the sixth with freshman shortstop Jade Wittman scoring on a passed ball to put the Vikings on the board.

Mt. San Antonio then scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take home the 10-1 conference win.

The Long Beach City College softball team will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 21 at Cerritos College at 3 p.m.
