Softball Sweeps Cerro Coso off the Field

 The Long Beach City College softball team shut-out Cerro Coso College 24-0 on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings advance to 11-5.

Freshman pitcher Brittney Runyon (2-0) earned her second win in the circle with only allowing the Coyotes to one hit. Freshman pitcher Alora Murray came in the third inning and earned her first save of the season.

The Vikings opened the game with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, three in the second, and five in the fourth and then finished the game with eight more runs in the fifth inning.

Freshman center fielder Destinee Ripley, freshman short stop Jade Wittman, sophomore designated player Raven Agapay, freshman left fielder Maria Aguilar, freshman third baseman Ileana Rivera sophomore first baseman Ashley Pozo, freshman catcher Jocelyn Cebedo, freshman right fielder Inessa Smith , freshman pinch runner Sabrina Perdomo, freshman pinch runner Briana Aguilar, freshman left fielder Savannah Headley, freshman pinch hitter Morgan Heard and Murray all scored for the Vikings throughout the game.

Aguilar went three-for-three at the dish and scored two total runs with three RBIs. Smith also went three-for-three and scored three runs with two RBIs for the Vikings.

Headley hit her first double of the season against the Coyotes and Wittman smashed a triple to right field.

The Vikings will return to action on Monday, Mar. 4 against Orange Coast College at 3 p.m. at the Viking Softball Field.
