The No. 5 Long Beach City College softball team defeated No. 13 Fullerton College 1-0 in Game 2 of the CCCAA SoCal Regionals on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings will advance to the CCCAA Super Regionals on May 13-15.
Pitcher Daisy Torres (23-8) was in the circle again with the shut down and held the Hornets to only four hits.
The Vikings scored the only run in the top of the first with an RBI ground out from third baseman Illeana Rivera to score in catcher Jaylene Ross.
The Vikings defense was superior the rest of the game as they held on to the Hornet shutout to win the game.
