Long Beach Softball Sweeps All-SCC Awards with Top Honors

Long Beach City College finished 22-2 to capture its first South Coast Conference softball championship since 2002 while Vikings' first baseman Anaya Togia collected her second straight SCC Player of the Year Award.

The Vikings (36-4 overall) are directed by Megan Martinez, who was named SCC Coach of the Year.

A pair of sophomore transfers were selected as SCC Co-Pitchers of the Year in El Camino's Lexi Ramirez and LBCC's Hailey Harris.

Long Beach was ranked #7 on the final 3CFCA State Top 20 while second-place El Camino (33-7, 20-4 in SCC) was placed at #5.

LBCC clinched the title outright on its final day of the South Coast season with a 3-1 win against the host Warriors on April 22.

The SCC has four of the state's strongest teams in RPI as Long Beach (#4), El Camino (#5), tied for third place Cerritos (#6) and Mt. San Antonio (#7) all will earn host seeds for the opening round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Togia once again led the SCC in batting with a .507 overall average, also pacing conference batters in RBI (39), doubles (19), home runs (eight), hits (68), runs scored (46) and slugging percentage (.873). Togia (third) and El Camino first baseman Savanna Kastigar (fifth, .500) were in the state top 5 in batting.

Ramirez is 24-7 with a 1.20 ERA and 173 strikeouts in 181 innings while Harris boasts a 23-3 mark, 1.22 ERA and 178 Ks.
