Long Beach compiles 12 top-10 finishes at 71st Pasadena Games

Freshman thrower Jessica Logologo (Lakewood HS) placed in the top four in three events as part of a team-wide 12 top-10 finishes for the Long Beach City College track and field team at the 71st Pasadena Games on Friday.

Logologo led the Vikings in throws at Caltech, finishing third in the javelin with a season-best 29.12 meters. She was also fourth in the shot put at 9.38m and fourth in the discus at 23.79m.

Freshman Destinie Hernandez (Downey HS) had a pair of top-10 showings. In the 800 meters, Hernandez finished eighth with a time of 2:40.53 and was 10th in the 1500 meters with a season-best of 5:23.76.

Other top 10 marks for the LBCC women included sophomore Aliyah Monsalvatge (Mayfair HS) in the 100 (6th, 12.77), sophomore Maria Sanchez-Meza (Wilson HS) in the long jump (6th, 3.89 meters), and a pair of second place finishes in the 4x100 (51.87) and 4x400 (4:29.16) relays.

On the men's side, freshman Jose Ochoa (Bellflower HS) had the Vikings' top finish with third place in the javelin. Ochoa threw a season-best 42.23 meters.

Freshman Kimani Gilbert (Bakersfield HS) ran a season-best 1:06.06 in the 400-meter hurdles for seventh place and freshman Jeffrey MacGillivray (Redondo Union HS) also had a season-best time in the 200 meters with 23.08, good for ninth place.

Long Beach returns to action on April 5 when it will compete at the Arnie Robinson Invitational at San Diego Mesa College.
