The Long Beach City College track and field team sent six members of its men's squad to the San Diego State University Aztec Invitational on Friday and came home with three season-best marks.
Leading the way was Phillip Powell in the 800 meters. He finished in seventh-place overall with a season-best time of 1:54.83. Other season-best performances included Akiem Brown in the 100 meters at 12.20 and Jarrod Amyx in the shot put at 12.63 meters.

Both the men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 2) when the Vikings will compete at the Arnie Robinson Invitational, hosted by San Diego Mesa College.
