Track & Field Boasts Top Qualifiers for SCC Finals

The men's and women's track & field program traveled to El Camino College to compete in the South Coast Conference Prelims on Wednesday, Apr. 24.

Sophomore distance runner Tylor Wallace took first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57. 51.

Sophomore M'Sai Mitchell-Francis took fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.30. Freshman Moises Marquez also earned a spot in fifth place in the 10,000 meter run and freshman Rafael Gonzalez was close behind in with eighth with a 34:36.49.

Freshman Thomas Pool took eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 35.81 meters.

For the women's side, sophomore Sherrice Pelle took seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.00 flat. Pelle also came in second overall in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.76.

Freshman Nicole Adams took eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 24.40 meters. Freshman Alysia Green also earned a spot in the eighth slot in the triple jump with a distance of 9.22 meters.

In the 100 meter dash, sophomore Aaliyah Abdulrahmaan solidified her mark in sixth with a time of 12.83.

The track & field program will compete again at the South Coast Conference Finals at El Camino College on Friday, Apr. 27.
