Track & Field Hold Numerous First Place Finishes at Coast Classic

The Long Beach City College track & field team competed at the Coast Classic this past weekend at Orange Coast College and took home six first place finishes for the Vikings. 

For the men's team, sophomore Darnelle Harris took home two top place finishes in the 100 meter final with 10.75 time and the 200 meter finals with a 22.07. Freshman Emari Bennet placed second place in the 400 hurdles with a 56.75 time and sophomore James Martin held on to second place in the triple jump finals with a 12.26 meter mark.

On the women's side, freshman Destinee Augustus placed second in the 100 meter finals with a 12.43 and third in the 200 meter finals with a 25.69. Freshman Aazalet Danage also had two first place finishes in the 200 meter finals with a 25.13 and in the 400 meter finals with a time of 1:00.77. The women's 4 x 100 relay (Aazalet Danage, Cicely Arana, Destinee Augustus, Vanessa Marchorro) took home the gold with a 49.47 finish. Freshman Calissa Candalot had a first place podium finish in the javelin finals with a 34.69 meter mark.

The track & field team will compete again on Thursday, Mar. 21 in the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic.
