Micheal Bourne enters his 2nd year as the assistant throws coach for the Vikings. Bourne brings technical expertise and experience to the Vikings after serving as a High School and Collegiate throws coach at other institutions the last several years. Most recently, he was the Assistant Throws and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Morningside High School in Inglewood from 2020-21. 

Prior to that, he was an assistant Throws Coach at West LA College from 2015-2019. In his time there, he helped produce a Western State Conference Champion in the Women’s Shot Put and CCCAA SoCal State Qualifier in 2015. He also helped produce a SoCal Regional and CCCAA State Meet Qualifier in the Men’s Shot Put in 2019. 

Bourne additionally served as an assistant throws coach at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles from 2015-2019. In that time, he helped produce a LA City Section Shot Put Champion and CIF State Qualifier in each year from 2015-2019.

Bourne is a native San Diegan who graduated from Crawford High School in 1988.
