Women's Basketball: No. 8 Vikings close out regular season with 78-41 win
Sophomore Talia Rayford posted her 17th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the No. 8 state-ranked Long Beach City College women's basketball team to a 78-41 South Coast Conference win over Los Angeles Trade Tech College on Friday at the LBCC Hall of Champions Gym.
 
Long Beach closed out the regular-season schedule with a 23-4 overall record and finished second in the SCC at 13-3.

The Vikings led 35-20 at halftime before turning up the defensive pressure in the second. LBCC totaled five steals over the first five minutes of the second half outscored the Beavers 13-2 over that period to take a commanding 48-22 lead at the 15:39 mark.

LBCC totaled 28 steals on the night off of 36 LA Trade Tech turnovers. Sophomore Kaaron King had eight of those steals to go with 12 points and six rebounds for the Vikings.

Freshman Shakeena Benton had 13 points while freshman Regina Romain chipped in with 12 points

Jerroniesha Green led LA Trade Tech (3-18, 3-13 SCC) with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Long Beach now waits to learn its postseason fate. Southern California Regional Playoff seeds will be announced on Monday. LBCC will likely host a first-round postseason game on March 1.
