The No. 3 state-ranked Long Beach City College women's basketball team won its 11th straight game after a 99-53 South Coast Conference interdivision victory over visiting El Camino College College-Compton Center on Friday at the Hall of Champions Gym.
Long Beach tied a season-high with 99 points. Six Vikings scored in double figures, as sophomore Crystal Cockerhan (Poly HS) and freshman Darshana Taafua (Western HS) posted double-doubles. Cockerhan had a team-best 16 points and 10 rebounds while Taafua grabbed a team-high 16 rebounds to go with 11 points.
The Vikings forced 42 Compton (2-16, 0-6 SCC) turnovers and led 47-22 at halftime. LBCC also outrebounded the Tartars 58-33.
Long Beach, now 19-2 overall, 6-0 SCC, faces a big week ahead as it plays at No. 4 Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday (Jan 29) at 7 p.m. and hosts No. 5 Pasadena City College on Friday (Jan 31) at 5 p.m..
