No. 5 Long Beach comes from behind late to beat El Camino, 59-55

Sophomore Jasmine Williams (Katella HS) scored a game-high 17 points to help lead the No. 5 state-ranked Long Beach City College women's basketball team to a 59-55 South Coast Conference South Division win over visiting El Camino College on Friday at the Hall of Champions Gym.

The win improved the Vikings to 21-4 overall and 8-2 in SCC games.

Long Beach had to come from behind late to pull out the victory. Trailing 56-55 with three minutes to play, the Vikings scored the final five points of the game while El Camino went cold by missing its last six shots.

Sophomore Crystal Cockerhan (Poly HS) had a big game on the boards with 14 rebounds while freshman Darshana Taafua (Western HS) nearly had a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.

Malaysia Locklin led El Camino (12-12, 3-7 SCC) with 11 points.

Long Beach returns to action on Wednesday (Feb. 12) when it travels to LA Harbor College for a 5 pm SCC South game.
