Sophomore Imani Johnson posted a triple-double with 16 points, 14 steals, and 10 assists to help lead the No. 6 state-ranked Long Beach City College women's basketball team to an 86-32 South Coast Conference interdivision win over visiting El Camino College Compton Center on Wednesday.

LBCC was coming off a narrow three-point loss at East Los Angeles College that saw the Vikings blow a fourth-quarter lead. But LBCC kept up the intensity throughout tonight's contest against the Tartars. Long Beach stormed out to a 16-0 lead to open the game and was never threatened. LBCC was up 44-1 at halftime.

Johnson paced a Viking defense that totaled 33 steals and forced 44 Compton turnovers. She had 10 steals in the first half as Long Beach converted 24 turnovers into 31 points. LBCC scored 54 points off turnovers for the game.

Johnson was the lone Viking to score in double figures. Freshman Vivian Hernandez came off the bench to score nine points off three 3-pointers. Freshman Kendria Rendon led LBCC with eight rebounds while sophomore Jakarra Waddell added eight points and seven rebounds.

Long Beach, now 15-3 overall, returns to action on Friday (Jan. 15) when it travels to Mt. San Antonio College for a big SCC interdivision game. LBCC and Mt. SAC have already faced each other twice in tourney games this season with the No. 2 state-ranked Mounties winning both contests.
