Women’s Basketball Ends Season on a High Note

The Long Beach City College women's basketball team celebrated their sophomore night and finished their 2018-19 season with an 81-51 conference win over LA Southwest College. With the win, the Vikings finalize their season 13-15 overall, and 5-4 in conference.

The Vikings were off to a great start as they dominated the Cougars from the first quarter. Long Beach finished the first quarter ahead 23-12 with sophomore guard Kaylin Brown, sophomore guard Rosalinda Taosoga, sophomore forward De'Brianna Hampton and sophomore forward Naomi Winston-Ellis all totaling five points each.

The Vikings continued their momentum in the second quarter as they totaled 17 more points to hold on to their lead. At the end of the half, the Vikings led the Cougars 40-27.

In the second half of the game, the Vikings gained more control and had their largest lead of the night by 33 points in the fourth quarter.

Winston-Ellis topped the leaderboard for the Vikings with 24 points, ten rebounds, nine assists, six steals and had four blocks.

The Long Beach City College women's basketball team will return next winter.
