Vikings close out perfect conference schedule for third straight SCC title

WILMINGTON - Long Beach City College capped an undefeated run through South Coast Conference opponents, defeating Los Angeles Harbor College 78-71 on Friday to close out the regular season with a 9-0 record and its third consecutive SCC South Division championship.

On Friday, Jaden Sanderson led LBCC, posting a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Ariana Grimes matched the feat with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Amanda Lopez nearly had a triple-double with 9 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds.

The Vikings now head into the postseason as one of the hottest teams in the state, winning 13 straight contests on their way to a 21-6 overall record. LBCC was most-recently ranked No. 16 in the state, No. 6 in Southern California.

Playoff seeding for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs will be announced this weekend. Opening-round games are scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 22.
