The Long Beach City College women's soccer team snapped a five-game winless streak thanks to a much-needed 4-1 South Coast Conference win over visiting El Camino College-Compton Center on Tuesday at LBCC.

The Vikings had lost three of their last five games while earning a pair of draws. With today's win, Long Beach improved to 11-5-3 overall and 7-4-2 in conference play.

Four different Vikings scored in today's rout. Not even 10 minutes into the game, Long Beach had built a 2-0 advantage. Freshman Brenda Reyes (Hawthorne HS) got LBCC on the board in the fifth minute when she nailed her shot from 25 yards out past Compton goalkeeper Junnipher Guerrero to put the Vikings up 1-0.

Reyes assisted on the next goal to freshman Yasmyn Andrade (Delray, FL) when they connected for a breakaway goal in the ninth minute.

Freshman Tiana Silva (Millikan HS) added a goal in the 47th minute and sophomore Liliana Montano (Lakwood HS) closed out the scoring with her goal in the 73rd minute. Montano, sophomore Rocio Hernandez (Warren HS), and freshman Sonia Graham (Downey HS) also had assists for the Vikings.

Compton (1-15-3, 0-12-1 SCC) broke up the shutout with a goal by Stacey Elias in the 60th minute off backup LBCC goalie Chantel Muro (South East HS).

Long Beach closes out the regular season on Friday (Nov 15) when it hosts El Camino College in a 1 p.m. conference game. The Vikings, currently in third place in the SCC standings, should likely receive an at-large bid into the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
