The Long Beach City College women's soccer team couldn't keep momentum going after a win earlier in the week and suffered a 1-0 loss to visiting Mt. San Jacinto College on Friday at LBCC.

The Vikings were outshot by a 9-6 margin and had limited scoring chances against the Eagles' defense. Freshmen Nikki Voulgaris (Wilson HS) and Stephanie Barrera (Bellflower HS) were the lone Vikings with shots on goal in the contest.

Despite the lack of offense by the Vikings, the defense played well and held Mt. San Jacinto scoreless over the first half. But in the 49th minute,  MSJC's Ashley Ganley fed Breanna Jeffers with a free kick from outside the penalty box. Jeffers was able to beat LBCC goalkeeper Isabella Reynoso (Lakewood HS) with her shot to give the Eagles all the scoring they would need.

Reynoso posted one save over the second half while sophomore Evelyn Fierros (Bishop Amat HS) had two first-half saves.

Long Beach, now 3-2 overall, returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 15) when it travels to Moorpark College for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
