The Long Beach City College women's soccer team hit the road for its fifth game of the season by taking on Mount San Jacinto on Friday evening. The Vikings suffered their first defeat of the year after surrendering three, second-half goals leading to a 2-4 defeat.

After LBCC let up the first score of the contest, sophomore forward Savannah Christensen (Lakewood, CA) took initiative early and tied up the game with an equalizer in the 31st minute. Sophomore midfielder Miranda Kaekul (North Hollywood, CA) facilitated the score with a nice pass to record the assist.

Despite taking a 1-1 score into the second half, Long Beach stumbled throughout the remainder of the game by allowing three-consecutive netters to give Mt. Sac a sizable advantage. Freshman forward Julianna Carrillo (Long Beach, CA) dished out a pass to freshman defender Hannah Nowland (Pico Rivera, CA) late in the game in which she fired home for a goal, but the netter was not enough to climb the hump en route to the 2-4 loss.

Freshman goalkeeper Ronnie Gonzalez (Lakewood, CA) picked up her first loss on the season in 90 minutes of action between the posts.

The Vikings (4-1) will continue action at home on Tuesday, September 13 by squaring off against Moorpark College. The game is slated to start at 4 p.m.
