Viking Women's Soccer Takes Down Taft

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team regained momentum on Friday evening by defeating Taft by the final score of 2-0 on foreign turf. Long Beach took control of numerous free-kick opportunities leading to the victory and snapping a two-game losing streak. 

Long Beach etched the first score of the game in the 10th minute thanks to sophomore defender Katin Trowbridge (Long Beach, CA). Trowbridge took a deep, free-kick and found the back of the net with ease, handing the Vikings an early advantage. In the 30th minute, Long Beach futher advanced their lead by the foot of freshman forward Julianna Carrillo (Long Beach, CA) via free-kick to give the Vikings atwo-score lead. They went on to hold the lead and earn the 2-0 victory. 

Freshman goalkeeper Ronnie Gonzalez (Lakewood, CA) was solid in 90 minutes between the posts to earn the victory. A defensive brigade consisting of sophomore defender Terica Johnson (Lakewood, CA), freshman midfielder Casey Angers (Seal Beahc, CA), and freshman defender Aubree Furman (Long Beach, CA) amongst many others were dynamic by halting the Taft offense to a mere two shots. 

The Vikings will continue action on Friday, September 23 by facing off against Canyons at home.
