The Long Beach City College women's soccer team kicked off conference play on Tuesday evening on the road against L.A. Harbor. Following a solid non-conference stretch that saw the Vikings earn an overall record of 5-2-1, Long Beach took its positive momentum into action once again by hauling in a 2-0 victory over L.A. Harbor to kick off conference play on a high note.

It did not take long for the Vikings to strike as sophomore forward Savannah Christensen (Lakewood, CA) fired home a netter near post after freshman forward Julianna Carrillo (Long Beach, CA) set her up with the opportunity, thus grabbing an early 1-0 advantage.

The defensive line continued to play well by minimizing L.A. Harbor's hopes of scoring. Sophomore defenders Katin Trowbridge (Long Beach, CA), Terica Johnson (Lakewood, CA), and Erica Rojas (Long Beach, CA) successfully halted the Harbor attempts leading into halftime.

The Vikings continued to battle it out as the game remained stagnant for a good portion of the second half. Finally, the Vikings grabbed another score in the 85th minute to distance themselves. Carrillo and Christensen linked up once again, this time with Carrillo finding the back of the net and Christensen recording the assist en route to the 2-0 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Ronnie Gonzalez (Lakewood, CA) continued to impress by hauling in her fifth victory of the year and two saves.

Long Beach overpowered L.A. Harbor by outshooting them by a total of 16-3.

The Vikings (6-2-1, 1-0-0 SCS) will continue action on Friday, September 30 by squaring off against El Camino (6-0-2, 1-0 SCS) at 2 p.m. at home.
