The Long Beach City College women's soccer team took to its home pitch on Tuesday evening to face off against Mt. San Antonio College on Viking Soccer Field. After earning the lead with a penalty kick in the 51st minute, Mt. SAC was able to tie up the contest  shortly after en route to a 1-1 draw.

After a scoreless opening frame due in part to a solid defensive effort from Katin Trowbridge, Terica Johnson, and Miranda Kaekul, the Vikings looked to make a stronger push in the attacking third in the final 45 minutes of play.

After an attempted link in the box where Julianna Carrillo drew a much-deserved foul, the Vikings earned a penalty kick. Stephanie Barrera, who subbed on for the injured Carrillo, buried the penalty shot in the 51st minute with ease to grant Long Beach the 1-0 advantage.

Despite holding the only lead of the game, LBCC's defense dwindled for a short period of time allowing Mt. SAC to send home the equalizer in the 67th minute.

The Vikings looked to charge back with a score with four blasts off the foot of Savannah Christensen, but to no avail thus leading to a 1-1 draw.

Aubree Furman provided solid help up top in attempts to shake up the offensive scheme, while Alana Rouse returned to the pitch after a brief hiatus and provided a solid foundation in the midfield.

Ronnie Gonzalez was effective despite allowing a goal by hauling in three saves in 90 minutes of work.

The Vikings (7-5-4, 2-1-1 SCC) will continue action on Friday, October 28 at home against L.A. Harbor in conference action. The game will kick off at 2 p.m.
