LBCC Women's Soccer Rounds Out Regular Season Action with Win over PCC

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team wrapped up regular season play on Thursday afternoon by facing off against the Pasadena City College Lancers on their home pitch. The Vikings were able to display lock-down defense and timely offense en route to a 2-0 victory and keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Vikings got off to a strong start early by blasting off four shots in the opening nine minutes of action. Sophomore forward Savannah Christensen took the fifth shot of the half in the 13th minute that resulted in a netter to put the Vikings up 1-0.

Long Beach continued to control the entire game on both ends of the pitch by outshooting the Lancers, 5-1, through the remaining minutes of the first half.

The trend of heavy offense continued to spike upwards for the Vikings as they carted a heavy foot entering into the second half with a one-goal lead. After six shots out of the gate, two of which came off the foot of freshman defender Jocelyn Gonzalez, LBCC expanded their lead to 2-0 after freshman forward Stephanie Barrera fired home a score in the 62nd minute.

An impenetrable defensive unit lead by sophomores Terica Johnson, Katin Trowbridge, and Miranda Kaekul allowed minimal chances for the Lancer en route to a 2-0 victory for Long Beach.

Freshman goalkeeper Ronnie Gonzalez had an easy day by recording a lone save in 90 minutes of work.

The Vikings finished their regular season schedule with an overall record of 10-6-5 which included a conference record of 4-2-2. The playoffs are still within reach and Long Beach's fate will be decided following the conclusion of conference play tomorrow.
