Long Beach Gets 3-1 Win Over Mt. San Jacinto

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team sailed past the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles on Friday afternoon with a 3-1 victory.

Sophomore defender Maria Vitiello netted the first goal with a swift tap from within the box after a corner kick. The Eagles answered back with 13 minutes left in the half to tie the score 1-1. Sophomore Aubree Furman was up for the corner kick three minutes later and aimed perfectly to sophomore forward Kalie Bembry, who smashed the Vikings' second goal to close out the half.

At the start of the second half, Long Beach took immediate control offensively and slammed in their third and final goal from freshman forward Victoria Gonzalez.

Goalkeeper Briana Alarcon totaled three saves on four shots on goal for her first win of the season.

The Vikings will play again on Tuesday, Sept 26 against El Camino in their first conference game at the Viking Soccer Field.
