Vikings Take Down El Camino 5-1 on Sophomore Day

The state-ranked No. 16 Long Beach City College women's soccer team defeated the El Camino College Warriors 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium. With the win, the Vikings advance to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the South Coast Conference.  

Freshman goalkeeper Arianna Perez was on fire in the cage as she held on to the shutout until the 87th minute. She also had two saves against the Warriors.

Sophomore forwards Brittany Caudillo and Allison Rose Veloz score back-to-back goals in the 26th and 27th minute. Freshman midfielder Alyna Campos was on the assist for both goals to help start the Vikings' take the initial lead.  

Veloz came back in the second half with a cross-cage shot to the left hand side to keep the Vikings ahead 3-0. Currently, Veloz sits on top of the South Coast Confernce leaderboard with 17 total goals.

Campos also smashed a long lob goal over the Warriors goalkeeper's head in the 57th minute to extend the Vikings to 4-0. Freshman midfielder Daisy Herrera slammed in the last goal for the Vikings from the left side to catapult the Vikings lead to 5-0. The Warriors finalized the game with a solo goal in the 87th minute to end the game 5-1.

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 15 at Compton College at 4 p.m.
