The No. 13-ranked women's soccer team powered past Compton College with a 5-1 victory on Tuesday evening, advancing their overall record to 10-1-4 and preserving an undefeated South Coast Conference streak at 6-0-1.
"We started off a bit slow due to the excitement of sophomore night," said defender Danika Hunter. "But after our halftime talk with Coach, we picked up the pace, took control, and capitalized on our scoring opportunities."
Midfielders Sydney Trump and Laura Vasquez scored the Vikings' first-half goals, with assists from Hunter and forward Abbie Campos. Compton managed a goal before halftime, but the Vikings responded decisively in the second half. Forward Lorena Moreno, Vasquez, and midfielder Bryanna Duarte each found the net, securing the 5-1 final.
The Vikings will be back on the field on Friday, November 1, at Pasadena City College at 4 p.m.
