Women’s Swimming & Diving: Long Beach splits dual meets at Cerritos

The Long Beach City College Women's Swimming & Diving team went 1-1 on Friday at the Cerritos College South Coast Conference three-way meet as the Vikings beat Los Angeles Trade-Tech College 166-49 but lost 174-100 to host Cerritos in dual scoring.

LBCC women took first place in seven out of 15 events. Leading the way was freshman Sydney Kohlenberger as she won three events. She took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.16), 200 backstroke (2:32.11), and 200 IM (2:30.62).

Also winning events for Long Beach included sophomore Natalie Nilan in the 1,000 freestyle (12:56.92), sophomore Burdette Forsch in the 200 butterfly (2:45.76), freshman Makenna Oberst in the 100 freestyle (1:01.82), and sophomore Payton Ballard in the 200 breaststroke (2:53.35).

The Long Beach women, now 1-3 overall in SCC dual meets, return to action next Friday (Mar. 25) at 12 p.m. when the Vikings travel to Mt. San Antonio College for a three-way conference meet against the host Mounties and Chaffey College.
