Long Beach Swimming & Diving Performs Well in Third Conference Face Off

The Long Beach City College men's and women's swimming & diving programs hit the road for their third conference meet of the season by facing off against the El Camino College Warriors and the L.A. Trade Tech College Beavers. The men hauled in two victories by defeating both teams, while the women were able to defeat the Beavers.

The men completed the day with two victories by taking down El Camino, 155-107, and L.A. Trade Tech, 220-24. Sophomore Aaron Mowl dominated all three races he swam by earning first-place in each dash. He began by earning a 55.07 time in the 100 Back. He continued on to dominate the 50 Free with a mark of 22.08 and the 100 Free by touching the wall at a time of 49.46.

Freshman Ian Dretzka performed well by hauling in a gold medal and two silver medal finishes. He kicked off his competition in the 100 Back and placed second with a time of 1:01.84. He followed with a first-place nod in the 200 Back with a mark of 2:10.03, followed by a second-place finish in the 200 IM with a 2:10.82 time.

Freshman Chaz Harker reached the podium in each of his three races with his most impressive marks coming in the 500 Free with a time of 5:15.03 and in the 200 Free with a time of 1:54.74. Freshman Timothy Nilan earned a first place finish in the 200 Free after touching the wall at a 1:55.83 mark.

Freshman Ryan Sar hauled in a pair of second-place finishes with a time of 2:11.66 in the 200 Fly and a 57.24 time in the 100 Fly.

For the women, freshman Samantha Wooley paced the squad by earning the top-spot in the 100 Back with a final time of 1:03.38. She finished her day with two second-place finishes in the 50 Free with a mark of 25.29 and the 100 Free with a time of 57.02.

Freshman Cori Reynolds earned two silver medals by touching the wall at a time of 1:17.13 in the 100 Breaststroke and a 2:50.33 mark in the 200 Breaststroke. Freshman MacKenzie Clark backed her with a pair of second-place finishes as well after touching the tile at 3:00.42 in the 200 Fly and earning a time of 2:53.78 in the 200 Back.

The Vikings will continue action this Friday, March 31st as the take on Mt. San Antonio and East Los Angeles at 12:30 p.m.
