Swim Competes in the Mt. SAC Swim and Dive Invitational

The Long Beach City College men's and women's swim and dive teams competed in the Mt.SAC invitational over the weekend. The men's team took eighth place out of 20 teams, while the women's team placed seventh overall out of 20.

Freshman Sydney Brouwer took the top spot on the podium for the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:10.67 and then also placed second in the 200 butterfly with a 2:27.80.

Fresham Atiya Yuwana also placed high for the Vikings with an second place finish in the 200 backstroke with a 2:22.92, and a third place showing in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:48.38.

For the men's team, freshman Mazen Abouelela took home third place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.64. Freshman Nicolas Fedotov also swam the 200 backstroke and came in fourth with a 2:30.3.

Freshman diver Jakob Fransen had two-second place showings. In the one-meter dive, Fransen scored 217.05 points, and in the three-meter dive, he scored 172.95 points.

The Vikings will be back in the pool on Friday, Mar. 4 against Cerritos and Chaffey at Long Beach City College at 10 a.m.
