Women’s Tennis: Long Beach drops conference opener to El Camino

The Long Beach City College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to visiting El Camino College in both teams' South Coast Conference opener on Tuesday at LBCC.

LBCC (0-3, 0-1 SCC) had a pair of chances to earn wins, but couldn't prevail in deciding third sets.

The No. 1 doubles team of freshmen Sarah Parent (Wilson HS) and Ellisse Herrera (Lakewood HS, pictured) pushed El Camino's Chie Young Shin and Lindsay Guardado to a third set, but ultimately lost 7-5, 4-6, 10-3.

At No. 6 singles, freshman Ana Casillas (South East HS) fell 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 to the Warriors' Jill Dineros.

Long Beach returns to action on Thursday (Feb 23) when it hosts Cerritos College in a 2 pm SCC match.
