The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team suffered a 25-19, 25-15, 25-13 South Coast Conference loss to visiting Cerritos College on Wednesday. The defeat dropped the Vikings to 4-14 overall and 2-6 in SCC play.

Long Beach couldn't get anything going offensively against the Falcons (13-8, 6-2 SCC). The Vikings totaled just 15 kills on the night while making 15 hitting errors on 81 attempts.

After dropping the opening set, LBCC showed life early in the second. Freshman Kassidy Harrington (Western HS) opened the Vikings' service with three consecutive aces to give Long Beach a 5-2 lead. But Cerritos rallied to tie up the score at 10 and after going ahead 12-11, the Falcons went on to score 10 unanswered points to put the set out of reach.

Cerritos stormed out to a 6-0 lead in the third and was never threatened.

Harrington's four kills and three aces led Long Beach. Sophomore Helen Marangos (Santa Fe HS) totaled three blocks and three digs while sophomore Mary Delgado (Lakewood HS) had 11 assists.

LBCC returns to action on Friday (Oct. 30) when the Vikings host East Los Angeles College in a 6 p.m. SCC match.
