No. 12 LBCC Women's Volleyball Controls Contest in 3-1 Win over Ventura

The No. 12 Long Beach City College women's volleyball team returned to its home hardware on Wednesday evening by facing off against Ventura College. The Vikings cruised through the first two sets and finished off Ventura in four sets to take the match at a final count of 3-1 for their second-consecutive win. 

Sophomore outside Sarah Miller (Long Beach, CA) made her mark through the four sets by displaying utter power en route to a game-high 24 kills. While Miller accounted for the majority of the offense, she was on six kills shy of totaling Ventura's team kills tally thus proving her dominance. Furthermore, she was dynamic on the defensive end by recording 17 digs and one block assists.

Sophomore outside Breana Torres (Long Beach, CA) had an equally impressive night on the opposite side of the net by hammering home 11 kills and recording 10 digs. Sophomore outside Jessica Kaeka (Long Beach, CA) etched solid numbers on the night by recording 10 kills and a game-high 19 digs.

Freshman setter Mary McBride (Paradise Valley, AZ) continued to provide an irreplaceable helping hand to the offense leading to a game-high 54 assists. She surprised Ventura on five occasions by notching kills via the dump shot. Additionally, she added a block assist and solo stop. 

Freshman libero Jordan Diaz (La Habra, CA) was dynamic in the serving game by dropping in three service aces along with priding a solid defensive presence. 

The Vikings (6-2) will kick off conference play on Friday, September 23 by facing off against L.A. Trade Tech on the road at 6 p.m.
