No. 19 Women's Volleyball Defeats Pasadena in Four Sets

The No. 19 Long Beach City College women's volleyball team hit its home hardwood on Wednesday night to take on the Pasadena City College Lancers in a South Coast Conference crossover matchup. The Vikings used a multitude of weapons and various contributors to work towards a four-set victory to improve their record to an impressive 14-3.

Sophomore outside Jessica Kaeka took the reins of the offense throughout the contest en route to 20 kills off 55 attempts. Her defensive contributions were highly present by earning 19 digs, which also paced the squad. Furthermore, Kaeka rose up for the game-winner block in the final set.

Sophomore outside Breana Torres dented the hardwood for 14 kills and earned 15 digs. The defense has been present for Torres all season, as she has recorded double-digit digs in five-consecutive matches and eight matches on the season.

Freshman setter Mary McBride racked up 38 assists in the game to bring her season total to 668. She ranks second in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) in assists-per-set with 11.32.

Freshman libero Jordan Diaz continues to contribute in numerous ways by recording six assists and tallying 13 digs.

The Vikings (14-3, 3-1 SCC) will hit the road on Friday, October 28 to face off against Rio Hondo at 6 p.m.
