It was recently announced by the South Coast Conference (SCC) that seven women's volleyball players earned All-Conference recognition. Highlighting the award winners is freshman outside hitter, Josannah Vazquez, who was named the SCC Co-Most Valuable Player of the Year, and freshman Shelby Cole as the Libero of the Year. Freshman setter Sierra Davis, sophomore opposite Tatyana Umi and freshman setter Lusia Lutali all earned first-team accolades, while sophomore middle blockers Andrea Edwards and Valeria Payan brought in second-team honors. Furthermore, second-year head coach Misty May-Treanor was named All-SCC Co-Coach of the Year.

May-Treanor, led the group of talented athletes in an impressive first-place showing in conference after a 6-1 record. This year, the team held 16-game winning streak that bled through conference. Since being at Long Beach City College, May-Treanor has made her second-consecutive post season appearance.

Vazquez was named Co-Most Valuable Player of the Year in the SCC along with Aiko Waters from El Camino College. Vazquez was first in conference with a kill percentage of .370 and averaged 3.5 kills per game. In total for the year so far, Vazquez has 215 kills, five assists and 109 digs.

Cole has earned the SCC Libero of the Year for the Vikings. She led the team with over 200 digs and has participated in 59 sets so far. Cole is the backbone of the team with over 40 assists under her belt this season. Her leadership as the libero is a strong force that creates a dominant atmosphere for the Vikings.

Davis reels in first-team recognition after being a force on offense for Long Beach. Davis has brought in over 120 kills, 319 assists and averages 2.22 kills per set for the Vikings. She sits third in the conference with averaging 5.80 assists per set.

Umi brings in first-team honors with providing her offensive and defensive skill set to the Vikings. Umi tallies 178 kills thus far this season, along with 33 total blocks at the net. She is a force that continues to provide athletic skill and talent to the team's success.

Finishing off the first-team honors is Lutali. She burst on the court as the prime setter by totaling 332 assists with 107 assists in conference. On the serve, Lutali is an offensive threat. In conference, she has recorded seven service aces and 10 total throughout the season.

Edwards earns second-team honors after recording 73 kills, 15 digs and 37 blocks. Edwards demonstrated strength and precision at the net throughout the season, especially in conference to make her unstoppable.

Payan rounds out the second-team accolades by earning her second All-SCC honors. Payan was a defensive threat at the net by smashing 41 blocks, along with tallying 105 points for the Vikings.

The No. 10 Vikings will participate in the California Community College Athletics Association SoCal Regional Playoffs at No. 7 Santa Barbara City College tonight at 6 p.m.
