Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Miramar College 3-0

The women's volleyball team brought out the brooms in their home game against the Miramar College Jets on Wednesday evening in the Building Q Gym. The Vikings were relentless at the net as they swept the Jets in three sets.

Sophomore outside hitter Isabella Alvarez was the first Viking to get on the board for Long Beach with the help from sophomore opposite Sierra Davis. Sophomore middle blocker Elsa Woods was up next to extend the Viking lead and the Vikings finished out the first set with 19 kills on 37 total attacks.

Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Blakeman was on top of the leaderboard with eight kills in two sets and had a kill percentage of .400. Davis led the Vikings with 28 assists and had six digs.

The Vikings powered through all three sets and only allowed the Jets to reach 12 points in the third and final set.

The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team will play again on Friday, Sept. 21 at Rio Hondo College at 6 pm.
