Vikings Sweep Cerritos 3-0 in Conference Play

The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team swept the Cerritos College 3-0 in their seventh South Coast Conference game on sophomore night in the Building Q Gym on Wednesday evening. With the conference win, the Vikings advance to 19-3 overall and 6-1 in conference action.

In the first set, the Vikings were first on the board with a side-out point. Then sophomore middle blocker Elsa Woods came in with the kill to pump up the Vikings' offense. Sophomore Jessica Blakeman was next up with a kill and the assist from freshman setter Levila Iosua. The Vikings finished the set with a 25-11 win.

Woods put up the first point in the second set, followed by a kill from sophomore opposite Sierra Davis. The Vikings were down 4-2, but then Woods smashed back-to-back service aces to tie the Falcons and ultimately take the second set 25-22.

The Vikings flew through the third set with ease with Blakeman behind five kills. The final point to take the set 25-14 and the 3-0 win was scored by freshman middle blocker Abigail Hargrove, who finished the game with a hitting percentage of .462 and held four total blocks.

The Vikings will play again on Friday, Nov. 9 against Imperial Valley at 4 p.m. in the Building Q Gym.
