No. 4 Vikings Falls to No. 5 Cypress in Second Round of CCCAA SoCal Regionals

The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team ended their season in the second round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs on Saturday evening with a 3-2 loss against the Cypress College Chargers in the Hall of Champions. The Vikings finished with a 22-4 overall record.

The Vikings started off with the upper hand as they won the first set 25-14. They totaled 20 kills off of 39 attacks to catch the Chargers by surprise. In the second set, the Vikings took control late as they were trailing 17-22 and then caught up to tie the game 22-22 and ultimately took over and won the second set 27-25.

The Chargers then started to build their momentum as they came back in the third and tied the set 22-22. They capitalized off of some Vikings errors and eventually won their first set 26-24. They then came back stronger in the fourth set and took down the Vikings 25-22. Cypress then won the final set 15-10 to take home the win and advance to the State Championships.

Freshman outside hitter Tylie Johnson led the team with 24 kills and had seven digs. Freshman setter Levila Iosua had 57 assists for the Vikings and freshman libero Lizbeth Lopez totaled 25 digs.

The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team will return next season.
