Volleyball’s Davis and Blakeman Sign NCAA Division 1 NLIs

The Long Beach City College volleyball team's sophomore setter Sierra Davis and sophomore outside hitter Jessica Blakeman signed their National Letters of Intent to NCAA Division 1 schools on Tuesday afternoon.

Davis will be furthering her academic and athletic career at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) this Fall. This past season, Davis was a huge asset to the Vikings on the court as she was recognized with All-Conference honors for the second-consecutive season. She was ranked third overall in the South Coast Conference with a hitting percentage of .297. As a setter, she led the team 227 assists and totaled 19 service aces for the season.

The UCI Anteaters are led by four-year Head Coach Ashlie Hain and compete in the Big West Conference.

Blakeman will also being furthering her athletic and academic career at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) this upcoming Fall. This past indoor season, Blakeman was ranked fifth in conference action with 3.08 kills per set, having 197 overall kills and a .244 hitting percentage. Blakeman was an offensive asset this season for the Vikings and helped lead the team to the playoffs for the third-consecutive season.

The UCR Highlanders are led by five-year Head Coach Michelle Patton-Coleman and also compete in the Big West Conference.
