After having its seven game winning streak snapped on Saturday against defending state champion Fullerton College, the Long Beach City College women's water polo team bounced back with a big 16-3 South Coast Conference win at Pasadena City College on Monday.

The win improved the Vikings to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

Long Beach held a narrow 3-2 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 7-3 at halftime. But Vikings' goalie Felicia DePalma (St. Joseph HS) and the LBCC defense held Pasadena (4-6, 0-2 SCC) scoreless over the second half while the offense poured in nine goals to close out the game. DePalma was credited with three saves in the contest.

Sophomore Makenna Oberst (Los Alamitos HS/Concordia University) scored a game-high six goals to lead the Vikings.  Sophomore Cori Reynolds (Poly HS/Long Beach State) turned in another impressive effort as she totaled three goals, six steals, and five assists while sophomore Ashley Diaz (Esperanza HS) chipped in with three goals, three steals, and two assists.

Long Beach returns to action this weekend (Oct. 2-3) when the Vikings will compete at the 17th annual Rabobank Invitational at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. LBCC opens play on Friday at 9:05 a.m. against Golden West College and will take on Foothill College at 3:35 p.m.
