TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Long Beach City College hosts the 18th annual truWest Battle at the Beach women's water polo tournament starting on Friday. The two-day tourney runs October 23-24 and will be played at three sites this year – LBCC, Cypress College, and Cerritos College. A large field of 24 teams from throughout the state will be in action with a total of 48 games played.
Long Beach opens tournament play on Friday at 11:30 a.m. and will face Cuesta College at Cypress. Depending on that outcome, the Vikings will play again at either 3 or 4:10 p.m.
Teams will change sites on Saturday. Championship round games are scheduled to be played at Cerritos.
Three of last season's state championship final four will be in action at this year's Battle at the Beach. Defending state champ Fullerton opens play at 8 a.m. on Friday, facing host Cerritos. Riverside takes on Sierra College at 10:20 a.m. at Cerritos and Diablo Valley College will play Mt. San Antonio College at 10:20 a.m. at Cypress.
Last year, Fullerton defeated Riverside by a final score of 10-8 in the championship final while Long Beach was a 10-8 winner over Orange Coast College in the third-place game.
