Women's Water Polo Dominates L.A. Trade Tech in Season Opener

L.A. Trade Tech never stood a chance against the Long Beach City College women's water polo team on Wednesday evening in its home opener. Riding a 14-goal outburst in the first period, the Vikings calmly cruised to a 23-2 victory.

Long Beach saw 13 different players fire home a score in the contest and six players tally at least one assist. Freshman defender Charli Chavarria (Lakewood, CA) led the potent offensive by uncorking three netters in the contest with two coming in the opening period. She added two assist throughout the game as well.

Freshman attacker Karinna Burch (Lakewood, CA), freshman attacker Sydney Kohlenberger (Santa Ana, CA), freshman center Victoria Johnson (Long Beach, CA), freshman attacker Lindsey Mizrahi (Cypress, CA), and sophomore attacker Natalie Nilan (Downey, CA) each sent home a pair of goals in the opening frame.

Freshman defender Kimberly Curiel (Long Beach, CA) was effective on the distribution side of the offense by recording three assists. Freshman attacker Belle Lopez (Long Beach, CA) and Johnson dished out three assists as well. 

The Vikings (1-0) will continue action on Wednesday, September 14 by taking on El Camino on the road at 3 p.m.
