Water Polo Conquers ELAC in First Home Conference Game

The women's water polo defeated the East Los Angeles College Huskies 27-2 in their first South Coast Conference home game on Wednesday afternoon in the Viking Aquatics Center.

The Vikings were unstoppable in the water from the first whistle blown as they scored 11 goals in the first quarter. Sophomore goalkeeper Cam Rosas was a wall in cage as she held the Huskies to only one goal and had three saves. Rosas also tallied two assists for the Vikings.

Freshman goalkeeper Cami Owens came into action in the second half of the game and also only allowed the Huskies to one goal. Owens took down seven shots from East Los Angeles and also had one assist.

Sophomore Sabrina Juarez led the team with smashing nine goals in the Huskies' net from the center position. Sophomore Harlie Whelan was the orchestrator behind the ball and totaled the most assists on the team.

Freshman defender Samantha Martinez finalized the score by ending the game with three consecutive goals, with totaling six for the game.

With the win, the Vikings advance to 3-2 overall and are undefeated in conference with a record of 2-0. The women's water polo team will play again on Friday, Sept. 21 against LA Valley in the Mt.SAC/Fullerton College Tournament at Fullerton College at 8 a.m.
