Sophomore Valerie Nettles (pictured) ran 23:33.12 to finish in 43rd place to lead the Long Beach City College women's cross country team at the 2012 South Coast Conference Championships on Thursday at Griffith Park in Los Angeles.
LBCC had just four runners at the meet and did not earn a team score.
Following Nettles was freshman Diana Ramos in 45th place. She cleared the 5K course with a time of 23:49.47. Freshman Allison Martinez finished 51st at 25:01.33 with freshman Marina Jimenez right behind her in 52nd, clocking in at 25:32.63.
Nettles and the Vikings will have to wait to find out if they earn at-large individual spots into next week's Southern California Championships. The meet is set for November 3 at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.
