Women's Cross Country: Vikings close season with seventh-place SCC finish

The Long Beach City College women's cross country team totaled 202 points to finish in seventh place at the South Coast Conference Championships hosted by LBCC at Heartwell Park in Long Beach on Friday.

Freshman Destinie Hernandez (Downey HS) led the Vikings with her 40th-place finish. She cleared the 5K course with a time of 21:34.

Hernandez was followed closely by freshman Alexa Zaragoza (Artesia HS) in 45th place at 22:06 and freshman Dakota Brown (Santiago HS) finished in 52nd place at 22:57.

Mt. San Antonio College won the women's team title with 36 points. Laura Aceves of East Los Angeles College was the individual winner with a time of 18:12.

The SCC Championships brough an end to the 2013 women's cross country season for the Vikings as the squad did not advance to next week's Southern California Regional Championships.
