Women’s Cross Country: Long Beach finishes third at season-opening Tour de Cuesta

The Long Beach City College women's cross country team totaled 66 points to finish in third place at the season-opening Tour de Cuesta in San Luis Obispo on Friday. Freshman Kimberly Munoz (John Glenn HS) led Long Beach in her Vikings debut with a seventh-place finish. She cleared the 5K Fairbanks Cross Country Course with a time of 22.27.1.

Right behind Munoz in eighth place was freshman Asia Muldrow (Frederick K.C. Price III Christian) with a time of 22:30.4. Other times for the Vikings included:

Malika Spencer (Westchester HS), 18th, 23:50.7
Maisie Ahern (Temecula Valley HS), 21st, 24:27.2
Katherine Lopez (Warren HS), 25th, 26:10.8

Citrus College's Antonella Curinga was the top individual, racing to first place at 21:12.0. Citrus (31 points) edged host Cuesta College (35 points) for first place by a four-point margin.

Long Beach returns to action next Friday (Sept. 11) when the Vikings travel to the Fresno Invitational at Woodward Park.
