Cross Country Qualifies for CCCAA State Championships

The men's and women's cross country team raced in the 2017 Southern California Regional Championships on Friday morning at Central Park in Santa Clarita.

The women's team placed 7th with 502 points. Sophomore Destiny Diaz placed 61st with a time of 21:17 and averaged 6:51 per mile and qualified for California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) State Championships. Freshman Lilyanna Figueroa finished in 101st place out of 183 athletes with a time of 22:23.

The men's team finished in 20th place with 528 points. Freshman Rafael Gonzalez was the top runner for Long Beach and finished in 66th with a time of 22:37.5 and freshman Donovan Zavala crossed the line in 75th out of 193 runners with a time of 22:44.8. Both Gonzalez and Zavala qualified for CCCAA State Championships.

The Vikings will hit the trail at the CCCAA State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday,  Nov. 18th.
