Melody Stockwell joins Long Beach City College in the position of Athletic Coordinator in December 2018 after spending the last two years as Athletic Coordinator at Compton College. Her role includes supervising all aspects of the athletic programs as they relate to game management, facilities, schedules, athletic eligibility, physical examinations, equipment, transportation, insurance, and risk management. She also oversees the Student-Athlete Success Center and evaluation of NCAA and NAIA transferability of student-athletes.

In addition to her daily duties, she is active in a number of CCCAA affiliate organizations including Management Council representative for softball, serving as the Communications Liaison for the California Community College Athletic Directors Association (CCCADA), a member of the constitution committee in the California Community College Sports Information Associates (CCCSIA), and within the South Coast Conference, she serves as the athletic director's representative overseeing women's volleyball and beach volleyball, as well as acting as the Don MacKenzie Scholarship chair and participating in the program review committee.

Stockwell graduated from Oregon State University in 2006 with a degree in Liberal Studies (Print Journalism) and Speech Communication. She worked in the Oregon State Athletic Communications Department for five years post-grad mainly working with the football, women's volleyball, wrestling, women's basketball, and softball programs. She served as a feature reporter for “Beavers All Access,” a weekly magazine show that was featured on ROOT SPORTS (formerly Fox Sports Northwest) that highlighted Oregon State Athletics. She also provided color commentary for all women’s basketball radio broadcasts and was recognized for outstanding publication design three times by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for media guides for volleyball and wrestling.

In ventures outside of college athletics, Stockwell helped spearhead a Guinness World Record campaign as part of Rotary International's "The World's Biggest Commercial" in support of world polio eradication. She engaged a number of A-List celebrities and professional athletes to support other internationally-recognized non-profit clients including March of Dimes and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, while also helping facilitate a cross-marketing effort between the biopic "Love and Mercy" and the non-profit Little Kids Rock in 2014. Additionally, she advised celebrities and professional athletes in their personal philanthropic endeavors and was involved in the production of soundtracks for a handful of Academy Award-winning movies.

Stockwell still has ties with a number of NCAA Division I and II institutions, as well as the CIF-Southern Section. She has served as the official scorer for the NCAA Softball Regional and Super Regional, hosted by top-ranked UCLA; media room coordinator and assisted with social media for the West Coast Conference Basketball Tournament, gameday staff at USC, UCLA, LMU, Pepperdine, Long Beach State, and California State University, Dominguez Hills; and official statistician for the CIF-SS boys and girls volleyball and basketball championships. Additionally she has worked with production operations for ESPN, Pac-12 Network, and FOX Sports.

A native of Hillsboro, Ore., Stockwell resides in Manhattan Beach, Calif. and earned a Master of Arts in Sport and Athletic Administration in 2019 from Gonzaga University and Master of Arts in Sociology from Arizona State University in 2020. She currently is working on an EdD in Sports Leadership from Concordia University-Chicago.
