The Long Beach City College beach volleyball team hosted the conference pairs tournament on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at the new sand courts at the KLAC building.
On Friday, No. 4 Jennifer Lias and Celestial Ropati defeated No. 29 Martinez/ Tircs (VVC) to move onto No. 13 Christleman/Arevalo (Mt. SAC), where they took down the Mounties in two sets.
No. 3 Lizbeth Lopez and Karyzma Aualiitia also advanced in the bracket on Friday with wins over No. 30 Romero/Martinez (RIO), and No. 14 Sandy/ Viloria (COD).
On Saturday, Lopez/ Aualiitia fell to No. 6 Juarez/Rutledge (ECC) in their first match but then triumphed over No. 5 Photias/Tiegan (COD) for 7th place to advance to the Pairs Regionals.
Lias/Ropati defeated No. 5 Photias/Tiegan (COD) in their first match on Saturday, but then fell to No. 1 McCarthy/Rascon. They went on to play No. 6 Juarez/Rutledge and lost in two, to take fourth place overall. They will also advance to the Pairs Regionals on May 6.
